To: VOIP Media Engine Developers
Subject: Deadlock information and “App design considerations”.

A few customers have asked us about deadlock threading issues associated with the VOIP Media Engine product. We have also been asked lately to offer some design guidelines relative to how VOIP application developers should design their VOIP apps using the media engine. For example:

Customer Question:
Does your company happen to have documentation on best practices and/or application design on using the Media Engine? I read bits and pieces here and there from one sample code and another, but nothing consolidated. The Help file you provide is great for referencing the API, but not so much for application design.

Thanks go to this customer for asking this question. We have updated the Software Developer’s reference with additional information regarding deadlock avoidance and “VOIP Application Design Considerations”.

This is the download link for the most current media engine dev reference:
http://www.lanscapecorp.com/DevResources/LanScape_Software_D evelopers_Reference.zip.

Download and unzip the new dev reference image and search for the word “deadlock” or the phrase “VOIP Application Design Considerations”.

If you don’t want to download the dev reference, you can look at the following on-line HTML page that discusses “VOIP Application Design Considerations”:

http://www.lanscapecorp.com/DevResources/SoftwareDevRef/sour ce/help/overview_of_the_voip_media_engine/voip_application_d esign_considerations.htm

Thanks,

Support
